Big Brothers Big Sisters Germany
Björn H. Robens, Spokesman of the bank's Board of Managing Directors, became a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters Germany in 2010. This charitable organisation forms part of the largest mentoring programme for children and young people worldwide.
Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children to reach their potential. Serving as role models, mentors dedicate time and attention to children, inspiring and encouraging them to achieve educational success and develop higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships. Mentors help boys and girls discover their strengths while Big Brothers Big Sisters provides the professional support and advice needed to make this happen. Around 270,000 mentors support children and young people in more than ten countries. As an independent charitable organisation, Big Brothers Big Sisters Germany is funded by donations from foundations and companies. The first one-to-one mentoring relationship in Germany began at the beginning of 2007 in the Rhine-Neckar region. Since then, regional agencies have opened in Munich, Hamburg, Rhine-Main (Frankfurt), Rhine-Neckar (Mannheim, Heidelberg, Ludwigshafen), Ruhr area (Essen, Mülheim, Oberhausen) and Stuttgart.
